User generated image gallery

Hi guys, does anyone know of any tutorials that explain how a signed in user can upload images to a gallery folder and then have that gallery display on a public page?  I'd like my user to be able to upload an image and select an option from a pre-populated dropdown which will upload the image into a specific folder.  General pointers would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your help.

You will need to make a web app with image field and then allow logged in users to submit a web app item. (which is the image and any text or aything else you need). You can choose these to require approval.

You can render a web app item list and then use this layout and say jQuery and the tumbnail code generation BC offers to have a small thumbnail and a lightbox for the large image.
