Maybe the font is there but with a strange name not easely recognized?

Do you have Quicktime or iTunes on these machines? Sydnie is a font that's embedded with those apps, and can get corrupted when the app is updated by Apple. Try uninstalling and reinstalling (or updating) either of those applications to see if that corrects the issue.

It might help if you provided a little more information in your
Plugging 'sydnie font' into Google:
yields this as about the third or fourth result:
Sydnie is a font that is used by and contained within Apple's
QuickTime Player. Whenever you launch QuickTime, Sydnie magically
becomes available and remains so even after QuickTime terminates.
But once you reboot your machine, Sydnie is gone again.
