    Button to advance and backup movie clip

      Gentlefolk;

      I am looking for a way to advance and rewind a movie clip X frames.

      This is being used in a presentation that includes a series of screen caps and audio explaining a procedure. Think glitzy PowerPoint. I want to give the user the option to go forward further into the presentation or backup to a previously-covered section.

      This content is also in a scrollpane. I already have the STOP, START AGAIN, RESUME, and INCREASE SIZE and DECREASE SIZE buttons sorted.

      Thanks!

          Do you mean that you just one the user to go to the next frame or the previous frame?
          if the content is entirely on the frame.......
          this.gotoAndStop(_currentframe-1);
          this.gotoAndStop(_currentframe+1);
          Or you can create an array of the frame names:
          Each time the user hits a frame, 'i' is assigned a number;
          Then you can reduce or add teh number and the array will act accordingly.
          this.gotoAndStop(frameNames )

            Ahh.. .knew the answer was simple. Actually, Im thinking of advancing the movie clip X no. of seconds, but that is easily translatable into frames. The content resides in a scrollpane, but I found the way to access this content. Your scripting gave me the info I needed.

            Thanks so much!

              Well, this is goofed. The rewind button works, but the advance button does not. So the movie clip goes backward, but not forward. Thoughts?

              I thought it might be a buffer issue, so I let the movie clip play for a couple of minutes, so there would be buffered content for the MC to go TO, but that did not make any difference. btnRew works, btnAdv does not.

              This DOES work:
              ---------------------------
              btnRew.onRelease = function() {
              mcMain.gotoAndPlay(_currentframe-450);
              scrollpane.invalidate();
              };

              This does NOT work:
              -------------------------------
              btnAdv.onRelease = function() {
              mcMain.gotoAndPlay(_currentframe+450);
              scrollpane.invalidate();
              };

                Sometimes the help file DOES work. If I specify the scene, then everything is jake:

                ---------------------
                btnFFwd.onRelease = function() {
                mcMain.gotoAndPlay(mcMain._currentframe + 120);
                scrollpane.invalidate();
                };
                ---------------------

                Many thanks for helping with this basic issue! I appreciate your time!!
