I was using InDesign CS3 on iMac (Lion) yesterday - no problem.  this morning I cannot open any documents.  I get this message

      javascripterror.jpg

I don't mess with plug-ins - wouldn't know one if it knocked me on the head!

--> the only thing i did that I can think of is downloaded 2 free calendar templates

      1. WeeklyPlanner.indt
      2. 2013calendar.inx

I did open them - but only to look... i do remember some messages re plugins.

HELP! I'M ON A DEADLINE (figures, right?!)

How are you trying to open the files?

Does ID launch without opening a file? Is CS3 fully patched to 5.0.4. 682?

You are more likely than not to have some issues with CS3 on Lion. I would strongly encourage you to upgrade while you still can.

Upgrade pricing will only be available til the end of the year and there is also introductory pricing for Creative Cloud.

That said, in addition to making sure you’re fully patched, you can try trashing your preferences.

BTW, how did you install CS3? How did you install Lion?

            Bob

              ok...

              1st I uninstalled, then reinstalled CS3...

and, per your advice Peter, downloaded 5.0.4. [but couldn't find .682??]

--> Bob, I installed Lion from an install disk i made after installing it on my macbook pro.

              • Does ID launch without opening a file?
              • yes... but with the same error messages

still getting same error messages as above.

              shut down computer,

              restarted

              launched CS3.

started digging - and saw in InDesign dropdown "config plugins"

so i did... disabled 3rd party plugins and

              WAHOOO! it's working!

that'll teach me to download templates - although they were from what I thought was a trusted Adobe site??

.682 is the build number. No problem.

What third party plugin did you disable?

A template file CANNOT install a plugin, so this is something that had nothing to do with the template itself.
