You have to send the reqired documentation to Adobe, they will send you a serial number.
"In order to install the Adobe Student Edition software, you (or the person you are buying the product for) must first obtain a serial number by submitting proof of eligibility to Adobe according to the instructions included with the product. The following is needed to provide evidence of eligibility:"
Might be a good reason to buy the discounted versions directly from Adobe. I think the process is more integrated.

Thanks for the helpful answers. I've read the elibibilty pages, but none have any numbers nor information on how to contact Adobe to obtain a serial number. I'll call Adobe direct sales tomorrow to see what I need to do.

I've already contacted Adobe at that number, and was told I needed to contact Amazon, which makes little sense.
I was hopeing that someone here on the forums that had gone through the process recently might provide and answer.
But I'll try them again to see what answer I get this time.
