Merge overlapping path components
1. Select the path name in the Paths panel, and select the Path Selection tool .
2. Click Combine in the options bar to create a single component from all overlapping components.
Merging the documentation for CS5 and CS6 seems to have been poor decision …
"Merge shape components" will just delete all pahts. I want the combine button from earlier versions! Do Adobe expect us to buy additional software just beacuse the newest version doesn't have all the functions the earliere versions had?

I suppose they expect us to familiarize us with the changes in a new version and use the Tools correctly.
Could you please post a screenshot of the path in question with the Paths Panel visible?
Or could you post a blank jpg with the Path that produces the undesired result?
