Increasing the timeout setting is the only way. Timeout is base on time between page requests so if the visitor is filling out a form and takes too long session ends.
Thanks for all of the help.
What do you mean by a behind-the-scenes page request. How do I do this?
You could also use an Ajax call to keep the session alive by putting a small timer on your page you could at the same time provide your users the ability to save a "draft" of the information that they are typing in just like google mail saves a draft of your document while you writing an email.
You could use the spry framework to submit the form (or just a form field), as long as you use the post method it should keep the session active while on that page.
