InDesign CS6 + Justify Text Frame Option = crash

    thewtb@me.com Level 1

I work at a newspaper, and we have upgraded the newsroom and layout computers to Adobe CS6. We've stumbled across an odd bug it seems when using InDesign CS6 with Text Frame Option set to Justify. The newsroom and layout computers are Windows-based - the layout computer is Windows 7 64-bit. Here's the scenario in which the crash happens:

      1) Text box is vertically justified in Text Frame Options

      2) A graphic/photo with a text wrap around it.

If you move the text box or the photo, causing the text justifcation to change, InDesign will crash. This only seems to occur when the spacing between justified text lines increases too much.

We attempted to cause the crash on another Win7 64-bit machine with CS6 using the same .INDD document (our pages are stored on a local Windows server), and it crashed again in exactly the same manner.

Here's the interesting part: I use Mac OS X Lion with CS6. I opened the same .INDD file as before, and InDesign crashed just as it did on Windows 7.

To rule out some form of corruption with that particular .INDD file, we created a new document with the same characteristics, and InDesign crashed again.

Here is a screencap video of the issue occuring. You can see, toward the end, how the text spacing becomes too much and it just crashes.

Solution: Change Text Frame Options to "Top", not Justify.

Is this a known bug in InDesign CS6?
