Last week I bought a standalone copy of Dreamweaver CS6 (upgrade from CS4). The CS4 version on my Mac was part of the Adobe Master Collection CS4 (legitimately purchased and licensed). It installed with no problem and accepted my new and old serial numbers.
However, today I took delivery of Fireworks CS6 (an upgrade from the same suite) except that this time it says that my CS4 Master Collection isn't a qualifying product.
I rang Adobe's helpline, only to be told that you can only upgrade like-for-like, i.e. suite-to-suite or standalone-to-standalone.
I asked in that case why had I been able to install Dreamweaver CS6 with no difficulty. The representative couldn't answer the question but stated quite firmly that it was impossible to upgrade a suite component with a standalone version.
I don't understand why some copies of Fireworks CS4 are more eligible than others?
