Adobe Reader X Version 10.1.3 - cannot open PDFs in browser.

Hi,

I'm using, Adobe Reader Version X 10.1.3 on my Mac computer. When I'm in Safari and try to click a PDF file, I get this message: "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement". I can't find the steps to accepting any license agreement in the Adobe Reader settings - how do I go about fixing this problem?

Also, when viewing in Firefox, clicking on a PDF automatically opens up Microsoft Word, which obviously can't read it.

Perhaps these problems are related?

Thanks in advance,

David

Hi dtpcenter,

I think you are gettng this error on Mac, if yes, then please Launch Adobe Reader by going into application and Launch Adobe Reader by double clicking it.

It should give you the EULA screen accept the license agreemant

Hope this helps.

Pranav

Try the below mentioned steps:

  1. Open Reader
  2. Click edit > Preferences
  3. click internet under categories
  4. select display PDF in Browser
  5. Click Ok and close reader
  6. Also check if you have any instance of Acrobat on your Mac, if it is there try above mentioned step with that as well

Doesn't work for me, either. In fact, 'Select display PDF in Browser' is there, but dimmed. Very annoying to get a message from Adobe for a non-existent requirement: 'Accept End User License Agreement'

Adobe should do better.

Did you do what the message says: open Adobe Reader by itself, then accept the EULA?

I open Adobe Reader (or Pro), but there is no menu command or option to 'accept the EULA'

I am having the same problem with Safari. Where exactly is the "accept the EULA" option?

This helped me out, works perfectly now. (using OS 10.8.5)

Remove from the folder /Library/Internet Plug-Ins:

1) AdobePDFViewer.plugin

2) AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin

backup these plugins - just in case.

I'm on a Mac and deleting AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNAPI.plugin in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins worked for me. Thanks!

A PDF no longer attempts to open in Chrome browser, opening instead in the Adobe Reader, which is fine with me.
