Is Fireworks still the way to go?

    Level 7
To mu mind, Fireworks is way better for web graphics than photoshop, a much
better tool fo rteh coder who occasionally needs to get creative.

here's my question - is it still the way to go now that adobe own it or will
they likely kill it in favour of photoshop? Surely they can see that there
is a market for a tool like this? Will they integrate it into photoshop adn
charge the high price of photoshop?

I hate to spend time with a tool for it to then get phased out - I got
sucked in to Macromedia Drumbeat (who here remembers that!?) and I dont want
      it to happen again

If FW does the job for you, I think you are safe to stick with it. I am.

Fireworks is still alive and well, supported by Adobe and still my
            preference for web/screen graphics.
