PPro works with Firewire, not USB
You need to use Windows Explorer or (I think) Mac Finder to copy the video folder from the camera to a folder on your hard drive
But according to premiere pro cs5.5 this camcorder is fully compatible...which doesn't make sense since the camcorder doesn't have a firewire port. I thought I got it to work before with USB. Is there any way to do this besides having to go through windows explorer or something else? It doesn't make sense that premiere elements can handle USB fine but not premiere pro.
The short answer is no. Your only option is to do it the way John said.
Your camers does not record to tape so there is no need to capture.
Like John and Jim said all you need to do is download the footage off your camera to your hard drive.
Then just import it into Premiere and it should work just fine.
It IS compatible, but shoots to flash memory, so there is no Capture, per se. That is for tape-based cameras over FW only.
However, you can Copy your full folders to your HDD, and then Import that footage into your Project. It is basically the same thing, but the process is different, as is the name, Import vs Capture.
Do not forget to Copy the FULL folder structure to the HDD.
all you need to do is download the footage off your camera
"Copy from", not "download off". Downloading in the process of transferring data from a remote computer to a local computer. This is just a local copy process.
So true Jim, good catch.
I try to use the correct terms but sometimes type before thinking.
