    Template link lost from web pages

    Level 7
      I have produced a template file and used this to create teh pages for the
      site.

      The template is linked to the files. Any change to the template file prompts
      to make changes to all files that use this template, clicking OK updates all
      the pages.

      I dont know what caused the error, but all pages on my website are now
      looking for the template file in the wrong directory and I dont know how to
      globally change this setting, or how it happened.

      If I create a new page, based off the template, all is OK. But not for the
      current htm files.

      The page of an existing file reads as follows:

      <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
      <html><!-- InstanceBegin template="../../Templates/CAD.dwt"
      codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
      <head>
      <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->

      The page of a new file would read as follows:

      <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
      <html><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/CAD.dwt"
      codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
      <head>
      <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->

      It is clear what the difference is, even to a novice like myself, the ../../
      should be replaced with /, but how do I do this and can it be done with a
      global search and replace to all files for my site ?

      Thanks in advance.

          Close all pages in the site. Do a global search and replace to find -

          InstanceBegin template="../../Templates/CAD.dwt"

          and replace with -

          InstanceBegin template="/Templates/CAD.dwt"

          That will work. How did it get that way? I'm baffled. Did you recently
          rearrange things in your site?

            Thanks, that worked a treat.

            I haven't knowingly changed anything, if that helps to answer your question.

            But I do understand that generally, things don't change on their own....
