By "not reading" exactly what is it doing?
Will they open in Bridge and ACR?
Thanks for replying.
OS is Windows 7 The file is shown in bridge as a grey rectangel with a blue bar across the top that says NEF. under the file it lists the file name eg DSC_0067.NEF.
In bridge when you click on the file, the file won't open, a window pops up and says " Camera Raw cannot open this file. If you are attempting to open a raw file from a digital camera, make sure you have the latest Camera Raw update installed via Help."
In Photoshop CS6 when i attempe to open a Nikon d800 nef file i get the same message as in bridge.
I have done this upgrade and my current camera raw update is 7.1
Older NEF files will open ok from my Nikon D3S
That is odd you can open old but not new NEF files.
When you click on Help/about plugins/camera raw. Does it say 7.1? There can be only one file here.
Curt he is talking both D3s and D800. I suspect he needs 7.1 for the D800
He does, but said he downloaded 7.1. But he may not have in correct folder, or have 2 copies there.
When I open bridge then to check the version of Camera Raw i open CAmera Raw Preference and it shows the version on the top of the screen. It reads Version 22.214.171.1244. I note you say in may not be in the correct folder, where should it be? Thanks again
I opened CS6 Help/about plugins/camera raw. and the version is 126.96.36.1995
That would be in Program Files/COMMON Files/Adobe/Plug-ins/CSx/File Formats which gives you Camera Raw.8bi
There must be only one file there.
