    Modify a mask

How can I modify a selection that has become part of a layer mask?  I want to refine the edge of a mask.  Windows 7, PS CS 5.

To modify a selection that is part of a layer mask, CTRL click on the icon for the layer mask to make a selection using the pixel values of the layer mask, then you can use any editing tool.

Hello, just select the mask, and go to the properties panel, you'll be able to feather it, or to use refine edges (refine mask in this case)

If you want to paint/edit the mask directly , ALT+click its thumbnail, and you'll be able to edit it with almost any tool/menu.

If you want to create a selection from the mask, do indeed a CTRL+click on the mask, then right-click in the selection and select refine edges.
