Jeff Arola Jun 14, 2012 3:39 PM (in response to MacWright)In the meantime you could try Window>Navigator

MacWright Jun 14, 2012 3:51 PM (in response to MacWright)thanks R
navigator works, but for me adding another pane just for the zoom level isn't a good trade-off.

Noel Carboni Jun 14, 2012 6:16 PM (in response to MacWright)Honestly, you should think about getting a second monitor.
Once you've worked with Photoshop having plenty of room to put up and keep up a whole bunch of panels you'll never want to go back. It feels simply uncivilized to work on just one monitor!

MacWright Jun 14, 2012 6:27 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)oh.. I gave up on multiple monitors years ago, I have a very nice large color managed display and it works fine....the idea that you'd need a second monitor to show the same info that was in the old UI indicates there's a design issue. What seemed odd to me was that I was mentioning a feature request from a $29 app.

Noel Carboni Jun 14, 2012 6:58 PM (in response to MacWright)Two very nice large color-managed displays that work fine are still better.
Thanks for your thoughts. I'm just back from a forum hiatus.

MacWright Jun 14, 2012 7:12 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)just personal preference. I used a set-up similar to yours in the past but it was like watching a ping pong match, back and forth.. etc. I'd rather have a really great smart UI and keep my focus forward, it's just more efficient and less of a pain in the neck.
I use full screen w/ menus when I am editing a single image, I move around quite a bit and not having to deal with the image frame is much easier. But I am constantly in an out of the full screen mode when pushing layers from other images. I also never use the tabbed windows. Again, it's just personal preference.

Noel Carboni Jun 14, 2012 7:15 PM (in response to MacWright)Fair enough. I hope Adobe finds some way to bring back the zoom status for you.
One other thought came to mind... Temporary Zoom. Press and hold the H key then click and hold the mouse button on the image. It will termpoarily zoom out to show you an overview of the image and a little outline showing where you're at at your current zoom level. You can even move it around to quickly get to another part of the image.

it's really not a big thing, I generally hang around during new releases to make sure there aren't any giant holes to fall into. If this is the worst thing that I can complain about in a new release then Adobe did a good job.
