I'm trying to solve a problem... I'm posting an "televised auto auction" in which the auction company wants a "high light video..."
The trouble is that they "record" the entire ten hour day with a KiPro onto a large, 18Tb Drobo volume. If I need say three cars, from a single day, I have to "import" the entire ten hour day, at nearly 300GB per clip! That is a TON of "wasted" disc space... further, when I have to get 10 days or so of footage,
So I'm looking at 2.5 TB of drive space for about 25 to 30 minutes of footage! That is crazy!
Is there a way, in Prelude, or media browser to set in and out points on the "huge clip" to only import what I need?
Thanks for the help...
Yes - you can do this in Prelude. In the "Ingest" panel, use thumbnail view. Click on the large media file. You will get a yellow bar at the bottom, which you can use to scrub your file. Use the I and O key to set in and out points for just the clip you need. Click on "Transfer Clips to Destination" under "Transfer Options." Browse for a location to put your file. Click the "Transcode" box. Choose a Codec, etc. Click "Ingest." It should launch AME and just transcode over what you set as your in/out...saving you tons of HD space.
You rock needles! Thanks man! I'm giving that a shot now!
