4. Re: Approval Status of Adobe Content Viewer - v21
Neil Enns - Adobe Jun 15, 2012 9:21 AM (in response to Johannes Eckert)Soon yes. I don't believe a date has been posted yet. I'm just glad we were able to get the viewers into the review process (and hopefully live!) before the server and panel updates go out, as many folks here have asked for in the past

Branislav Milic Jun 16, 2012 9:10 AM (in response to Laubender)Who's the smart person at Adobe who understood the regular mess the whole DPS world was facing after each release and who decided to first release a viewer before releasing the tools !!!???

11. Re: Approval Status of Adobe Content Viewer - v21
Neil Enns - Adobe Jun 18, 2012 8:41 AM (in response to Branislav Milic)Before y'all get crazy excited, keep in mind that we have strict windows where we can deploy the server components and there's no guarantee that will line up with when the viewers are approved. This time around the stars may align, but that won't always be the case.
There's good news though: starting in v20 we have support for something we call "save back". This means that even if you update all you tools you can still save your folios in older formats that don't require you to update the viewer. Save back supports v20 and v21.

12. Re: Approval Status of Adobe Content Viewer - v21
Johannes Eckert Jun 18, 2012 9:06 AM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)the acrobat servers are down for maintenance currently — but as far as I can recall during working the whole day on acrobat.com, there was no toast message about the update. sad face.

Neil Enns - Adobe Jun 18, 2012 9:07 AM (in response to Johannes Eckert)It's posted to the top of this forum as of about 5 minutes ago (thanks John!). I assume he also updated acrobat.com as well or will when it comes back up from maintenance.

15. Re: Approval Status of Adobe Content Viewer - v21
Neil Enns - Adobe Jun 18, 2012 9:18 AM (in response to Bob Levine)Refresh maybe? It's there when I view the forum. Here's the contents:
"The next release of Digital Publishing Suite, currently scheduled for June 19th, requires a mandatory update of the folio builder panel. After deployment of the release on the server side, users will be presented with a message in Folio Builder panel indicating that the panel requires an update in order to function. Users will be directed to the download page to install the latest build of the Folio Builder. Links to the panel will be available at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/.
Note: Users are not required to update their Folio Producer Tools with this release, just the Folio Builder Panel. The panel is backward compatible with older versions of the production tools.
CS6 users will download and run a single installer that updates InDesign with the latest Folio Buidler panel and folio producer tools. A new feature coming in this release allows users to create an older folio version (back to release 20) with the latest tools. CS6 users will continuously update their tools and use this functionality to create folios for older viewers."
