ectobuilder50 Jun 17, 2012 6:19 PM (in response to John T Smith)I read that someone hacked the Nvidia Maximus and used 1 x Quadro 4000 (attached to monitor) and 2 x GTX 580's (installed in standalone PCI-E slots for number crunching).
Anyone come across this?

ectobuilder50 Jun 17, 2012 6:23 PM (in response to ectobuilder50)I should ask too if anyone working with Davinci Resolve has run into any compatibility issues with PPCS5.5.2 since Davinci Resolve supports up to 4 GTX cards installed simultaneously. Does this cause any problems with PPCS5.5.2?

From what I've read, it varies depending on the cards in question, and whether the drivers for those cards conflict in Premiere. My understanding is that if all the cards are the same then it will work fine.
My system has a GT120 for monitor out and a GTX285 for graphics processing in Resolve, and it works fine in Premiere. Other than that Premiere uses the less powerful GT120 for a GPU, because it's in slot 1.

ectobuilder50 Jun 17, 2012 8:29 PM (in response to SimonHy)Any special settings done to the second card in order to get it to run smoothly with Premiere?

7. Re: CS5.5.2 with multiple GTX cards
SimonHy Jun 17, 2012 9:16 PM (in response to ectobuilder50)No, I just installed Premiere and it all works. But as I said, I think it depends on the particular combination of cards.
You do have to make sure you're running the older version of the CUDA drivers for Resolve, I think it's 4.0.19 on a mac, not sure about PC. Probably not ideal, but it hasn't caused any problems for me so far. You basically need to decide which is the more important, being on the right set up for Resolve or for Premiere. For me it's Resolve, and I've been lucky that Premiere has worked well with it.
