I thin we've seen a few reports of troubles with AXT fonts in the last several months.
What's your OS, and where are the fonts installed? Are this "special" glyphs of some sort? Formatted differently from the surrounding text?
The OS is Windows 7, and the fonts are installed in the usual place - C:\Windows\Fonts
The only thing I had to work from was a PDF of the previous version. So I opened that in Illustrator, after downloading the same font and it all displays good. You can edit, copy and paste all the text.
However, when I try to copy and paste it into InDesign I get the blocks.
There appears to be nothing special or different formatting, but when I convert it to Arial it copies over fine.
I can use Arial instead, its not a problem, but I'm was trying to find a solution rather than work round...if there is one.
As I said, I'm pretty sure I've seen other reports of trouble with fonts from this foundry. ID tends to be fussier than other programs when it comes to fonts, and that could be the reason that things are ok in Illy, but not in ID.
What happens if you convert to Arial, copy, paste and convert back to the original font? Do you still have missing glyphs?
Do you read Arabic so you'd know if there was a problem in Arial?
Ah, cross-posting there.
Do you have the ME version of ID, or have you run a script to unlock the World Ready composer or installed the World Tools plugin from In-Tools.com? I'm guessing yo may not have proper right-to-left support in ID.
Tried converting back to the original font and still get the missing glyphs.
Unfortunatly I dont read Arabic or these job would be much easier. Ive done quite a few english/arabic jobs in the past and never had a problem, the difference being the copy is normally provided in Word (Arial or Times) as opposed to a PDF
I will look at those suggestions and feedback.
Followed the steps on the page below and it solved the problem.
You were correct, it was the fact I didnt have RTL support.
Thank you very much.
