It thinks the update isn't applicable - for whatever reason. Most likely something ahs blocked/ damged the installer database. I recommend you wipe your system clean using the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, then reinstall all apps, making sure you apply the updates that are most important to you first before something goes wrong again...
Thanks for your reply. Are you suggesting a full uninstall and reload of the CS6 Master Collection? That's a multi-hour proposition.
MC takes about 20 minutes to install on my MacBook. Just did it. What kind of a machine are you using that takes more than an hour?
So, after 3 1/2 hours I've uninstalled CS6 Master Collection, cleaned with the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstalled the MC, talked with Adobe support and fixed the problem.
I had to install the update in Safe Mode on my Mac (hold shift key while rebooting) then log in through the root user to run After Effects. But now I've rebooted in regular mode, logged in as myself, and AE CS6 v18.104.22.168 is running beautifully. It even RAM previews much quicker than before!

Just found out this method and it works.
-Mount (open) the Update DMG file.
- Right mouse click on the AdobePatchInstaller and select Show Contents
- Expand the Content folder to show MacOS folder, inside it should be the AdobePatchInstaller file
- Right click on AdobePatchInstaller and select Open With > Terminal
It should run the patch, update and AE should run fine. Be sure you are logged in as the Admin or else this may not work.
