Kostas Arvanitidis Jun 23, 2012 3:03 PM (in response to JSS1138)Hey Jim,
no 3rd party hardware of software involved. It's just plain Firewire connection to Deck. The exact same pc with the same connectivity was ok with CS5.
I was aware of your thread Admiral, but as this was slightly different (reversed fields) I decided to start a new one.

4. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
JSS1138 Jun 23, 2012 3:09 PM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)OK.
So to make sure I understand the issue, you've captured some media from a DV deck over FireWire. You're editing in a matching DV sequence. And you're trying to export that sequence back out to DV tape via FireWire.
Is that correct?

5. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
Kostas Arvanitidis Jun 23, 2012 3:16 PM (in response to JSS1138)Yes,
and the fields appear (on the deck montiror) inverted... If I reverse the fields manually the export is ok. But this is just a workaround.

6. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
JSS1138 Jun 23, 2012 8:52 PM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)Alright.
Was the media captured on the same deck your sending it to now? Was it captured using CS6?

7. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
Kostas Arvanitidis Jun 24, 2012 5:03 AM (in response to JSS1138)Yeah, all native. Same deck, same pc. Whole procedure with CS6.

8. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
JSS1138 Jun 24, 2012 7:13 AM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)Hmmm.
When you hold the mouse pointer over a clip in a bin, what info pops up in that little yellow box.

9. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
Kostas Arvanitidis Jun 24, 2012 10:05 AM (in response to JSS1138)Among other info (Audio sampling, duration etc.) it says LFF (which is correct for PAL DV material).

10. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
JSS1138 Jun 24, 2012 1:35 PM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)OK.
Where exactly are you seeing this reversed field dominance?
-
11. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
Kostas Arvanitidis Jun 24, 2012 1:43 PM (in response to JSS1138)Reverse field dominance is an (old) option if you right-click a clip in timeline and choose field options->reverse field dominance (checkbox)

12. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
JSS1138 Jun 24, 2012 2:26 PM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)No, I meant where are you seeing the result of that, not the option to change it?

13. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
Kostas Arvanitidis Jun 24, 2012 2:29 PM (in response to JSS1138)Ah sorry, I thought I has clear on a previous post. It's visible on the deck's monitor (Sony 14'' CRT)

14. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
JSS1138 Jun 25, 2012 4:42 PM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)OK.
One last check. Take a clip from the bin and drop it on the New Item icon. Add some more clips to that new sequence. Test and report back the results.

15. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
Kostas Arvanitidis Jun 26, 2012 2:48 AM (in response to JSS1138)I gave it a shot, but the results are the same. My guess is that plain AVI DV PAL files are not interpreted correcly in CS6. I'm thinking of using the CS5.5 AVI DV importer (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5\Plug-ins\Common\ImporterAVI.prm). If this works I'll let you know. Furthermore if it works I'll try to use the XDCAM MXF Importer too because CS6's is kinda buggy too.

16. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
Kostas Arvanitidis Jul 2, 2012 7:05 AM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)Unfortunately it didn't work (the 5.5 importer). I'm finding hard to beleive a so common feature (PAL DV output) is bugged. On the other hand... MXF is also bugged in CS6.
Please Adobe, fix these as soon as possible. They're mandatory in our workflow. We have to use workarounds and they're time-consuming.

Kostas Arvanitidis Jul 12, 2012 8:39 AM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)No updates so far... I wonder how hard this could be to fix. I just found out that the crawls too have the 'reversed' fields issue on the DV output.

18. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
JSS1138 Jul 12, 2012 9:03 AM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)If you can upload a clip, I'll test it out on my end, see what happens.

19. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
Kostas Arvanitidis Jul 12, 2012 9:57 AM (in response to JSS1138)Thanks Jim for your interest. I've uploaded the file here:

Please note that this is noticed under PAL devices. I've not tested anything on NTSC.

21. Re: PAL D1 preset DV Output issue with CS6
KostjaG Sep 9, 2012 5:35 AM (in response to Kostas Arvanitidis)Yeah. I've test CS6 and have the same bugs. Video looks like reverse fields and blurry (like your beach-video, and like in this post http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1019730 ). But after exporting to DV-AVI PAL file and autoring vs Encore CS6 quality is good: correct fields order and cristal clarity (controlled vs CS2). Updating of Premiere to 6.0.2 not correcting these troubles. This bug affects only to preview and export to DV-device through IEEE-1394 (Firewire) and making unable control of video quality on CRT TV-set/monitor and exporting of video to DV-tape. In the Program monitor there is allright and Cuda working good. And not depending wherewith video was capchured: Premiere Pro CS2 on XP or CS6 on W7.
Tested on harware: Phenom II x4 955, 8GB RAM, GTX560 (but vs Mercury Playback - Software only, switching on of Cuda make more troubles to monitor), video camera Panasonic NV-GS500; System - Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1.
