can you be more specific on your problem? i am including a link to teh Adobe Help page-
are you importing a video in Ps6? how? (dragging, dropping, etc)
include any screenshots, then perhaps the people in this community forum can help you out
AVI is a very, very broad video (and audio) format, and can contain all sorts of "stuff." See this ARTICLE for more information. There are also links to two, great, free utilities, that will let you look inside the .AVI files. Posting the details from MediaInfo, or G-Spot, will be very useful.
Now, do you have Photoshop-Extended, or just the regular PS version?
PS-Extended handles some common AVI's, and some common MOV's, plus a few MPEG's, but each can contain CODEC's, that it cannot work with. For more details on CODEC's, the "building blocks of audio and video," see this ARTICLE.
Will these video play in Bridge? That sometimes is a first step.
As Bill said, AVI is meaningless. It's just a container format. We need to know exactly what the source of the file is, what CoDec it uses etc. Use GSpot or MediaInfo to find that out. And by all means do provide some info about your system.
