1. Re: XDCAM EX codec missing
Jon-M-Spear Jul 2, 2012 7:07 AM (in response to adgod42)Sounds like there must be a third-party codec (such as Blackmagic) that needs to be reinstalled over CS6.

adgod42 Jul 2, 2012 7:11 AM (in response to Jon-M-Spear)Its weird because i had the project working fine on CS5.5 on other machine. Difference there is I had FCP 7 installed and QT PRO 7. Wondering if that is it? Shouldn't be though because PP CS6 is supposed to support XDCAM codec. hmmmmmm

4. Re: XDCAM EX codec missing
Jon-M-Spear Jul 2, 2012 7:48 AM (in response to adgod42)CS6 does support XDCAM natively, but if you've processed the source footage in any way using a non-Adobe codec, you will need to install it again to use in CS6.

scoutsbrother Sep 14, 2012 1:49 AM (in response to Jon-M-Spear)What do you mean "processed"? I just imported, chose in and out points, and placed in a sequence. As far as I know the original clips haven't been touched, but I still can't get them to show up in my project that I'm opening from 5.5 for the first time. Same error message, and no other options. How do you "install again"? Do I just re-import them via media manager? Do I have to go through all the footage and select the important clips again? There must be a work-around for this, I can't imagine having to re-create an entire 1 1/2 hour film because of a non-recognized codec. Thanks in advance for the help...

JSS1138 Sep 14, 2012 7:47 AM (in response to scoutsbrother)Create a new project. Do you have all sequence presets available, or only a few?

8. Re: XDCAM EX codec missing
scoutsbrother Sep 14, 2012 8:17 AM (in response to JSS1138)Actually, I spent two hours on the phone with Adobe support...I created a new project, new sequence, new preferences, even a new user on my computer, nothing worked. In the end, the rep told me that 6.0 was more picky about the file details, and it just wouldn't import .mov files from EX cameras. She suggested I use the original SXS cards to re-import. I suggested that would be difficult since I sold the camera 9 months ago, and furthermore, once the files are downloaded I erased the cards anyway. I also suggested that thousands of EX cam users must be having the same difficulty. She didn't know. In the end, I got a refund and deleted the program from my computer. Just crazy in this day and age. Very frustrating all the way around.

JSS1138 Sep 14, 2012 8:56 AM (in response to scoutsbrother)That's too bad. I'm pretty sure this could have been made to work.

turnipvideo Nov 13, 2013 1:26 PM (in response to JSS1138)Sounds like a great reason not to upgrade to 6 from 5.5
