    Premiere Pro CS5 Crashes, Cannot Install Updates

      I have had Creative Suite CS5 Extended installed since Sept 2010. I purchased the boxed version directly from the Adobe.com site. I use Photoshop and AI nearly every day with no difficulties.


      PROBLEM #1: Today tried to open Premier Pro for the very first time. Program tries to open, but crashes ("Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 has stopped working..." popup window) at the command "Loading Write_on.aex".


      Visited Adobe Support. Downloaded the newest update for Premier Pro, as well as the recommended updates for Media Encoder and After Effects. I chose the downloads for "update for retail DVD". I extracted the .exe files.


      PROBLEM #2: When I try to run any of these .exe files, I get an error message window: "Update failed. Updates could not be applied. This patch is not applicable for you. Please check for updates in the Help menu of your product to see a list of the latest updates available".


      Obviously I cannot do that, since Premiere Pro won't open.


      Any suggestions?

      16.0 GB RAM

      AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor 3.20 GHz

      ATI Radeon HD 4600 graphics card, driver updated on 6/1/2012
