Hi Shane,
Not sure how you imagine the archive, but what you can do is place the announcements module onto that page, which will display the latest 5 (or as many as you want announcements) and then you can provide the link to a page with all of the announcements, which will have an announcement module that displays all announcements.

No, they wouldn't. They'd be displayed as a straight up list. You'd need to use some jQuery to read the date and then segment the list in some way according to the date.
