    margieannejulie Community Member

I can't open a PS file sent by a friend, she sent it by wetransfer, the file did fall on desktop with name given in save before downloading.

Looks like white page with bent top right corner, PS says Could not complete your request because PS Does not recognize thin kind of file

      THANKS

Are you SURE the file extension is right?

Please provide some specifics...  What format was the file saved in?  What is the exact name?

Mac or PC?  What OS version?

I'm not familiar with wetransfer...  Is this an internet file transfer service (e.g., one person uploads, then sends a link to another)?

            Welcome to the forum.

Along the lines of Noel's questions, with many file transfer services, the uploader often has the option to "archive" the file, say as a ZIP to get some compression, and perhaps file size reduction (not usually THAT useful with image files). If that is the case, then your file might be a ZIP, RAR, 7z, or other archive file format, and would need to be Extracted, before PS can work with it.

Good luck, and please let us know a bit more.

I shouldn't have changed the name, I didn't change  the format, but I did change the name, thanks everybody

The file's name should not create a problem, but changing the file's extension could certainly mess things up.

From most file shipping sites, one is allowed more than one download, within a certain time. I'd go back to your link, and try to download again. I would not touch a thing, and report the full file name here. If you have the "Do Not Show File Extensions" option set in your OS, uncheck that, so that you can see the full file name, with its extension. Someone here should be able to help you identify the file type/format.

                Good luck,
