I am creating a booklet in Adobe InDesign. I've got my header and footer set up in the master pages, as well as page numbers in the bottom-right hand corner. The main content starts on page 1. Just before the main content, however, are two additional pages, the cover page and the table of contents page. The thing is that InDesign includes these two pages in the page number count, and so the main content instead starts on page 3 instead of page 1. How can I make it so that the cover page and table of contents are NOT included in the page number count? I'm using InDesign CS6 on OS X Lion. Thanks.
Right-click the icon for the real page 1 and choose Numbering and Section Options from the context menu. Check the Start a new section box and start at page 1. ID will complain when you exit the dialog that there are multiple pages withthe same number, so repeat the procedure for the section starting on the front cover and change the numbering style to anything else (small Roman numerals is traditional for front matter) and all will be fine.
