Thanks Harm, for the quick response and the pointer.
I have gone through the specs for ADVC 55 and ADVC 110 - they do specifically mention PR which I assume is not for just editing but control capture as well.
I have fired an email asking for the capture resolution as well as distributors in Toronto, Canada.
Do you know if they can provide HD resolution?
Many thanks again.
Or, if you have a video camera with firewire slot, you can also use that as an intermefiate between the vcr and Pr.
This is a great suggestion, Jerry. I will check out the Video Camera for the necessary port.
No HD resolution. Only SD. But you would not want to uprez VHS material beyond SD, since it will be horrible.
Just like a DV camera, the ADVC converts analog VHS material to SD DV AVI material on the fly and then PR can capture that. Given that VHS has an effective vertical resolution of around 240 lines, going to 480 is about the maximum uprezzing that gives acceptable quality, nothing more is realistic and certainly no HD resolution.
