1. Re: Use Bridge to move photos
Curt Y Jul 23, 2012 8:09 AM (in response to Kibbermand)I guess I am a little dense this morning. Can not figure out what you are trying to do.
The way I read it is you can not re-arrange pictures in Windows Explorer, but can in Bridge. The Bridge file you see in WE is the Bridge specific file for cache info. Has nothing to do with
WE. So what is the question? -
2. Re: Use Bridge to move photos
Kibbermand Jul 23, 2012 9:05 AM (in response to Curt Y)OK, then I do nothing about the new file from Bridge coming into my map, because it is only telling me that something is changed = Right ?
My question is perhaps answered by you , because now I understand (?) , that the change in Bridge will not change the map-setting in W7, and that is what I need.(perhaps read the first posts in the link about MS where you can not change the pictures place in the map)

We have a communication problem here.
Let me guess: is your native language Dutch (Nederlands), Afrikaans or perhaps even German (Deutsch)? If so, may I assume that when you type "map" you actually mean "folder"?
["Map" in English means landkaart (Nederlands) / Landkarte (Deutsch)]

Kibbermand Jul 23, 2012 10:53 PM (in response to station_two)Sorry, yes you are right, it is folder, but you guessed that, so ? (and it is Danish)

station_two Jul 23, 2012 11:13 PM (in response to Kibbermand)So, I'll re-read your post with the certainty that you are referencing folders, and now I've learned that folder is mappe also in Danish.
Incidentally, on the Macintosh, anything you do or create in Bridge is also instantly replicated in the Finder, which is the Mac's equivalent of Windows Explorer, and vice versa: whatever you do in the Finder is instantly replicated in the Finder. So, the situation you describe with Windows 7 behavior, if I understand you correctly, sounds like a true nightmare.

station_two Jul 23, 2012 11:21 PM (in response to Kibbermand)Aaaaaah! Wait a second.
It just now struck me that you may be talking about the sorting order or the arrangement of the image files within the folder? If that is the case, then that's a whole different story.

7. Re: Use Bridge to move photos
Kibbermand Jul 23, 2012 11:24 PM (in response to station_two)It really is - have I known this I certainly had chosen MAC - I bought very expensive machines, so I could have bought MAC instead.I did not dream, that Microsoft would do a step BACK here - in XP you could easily do that.
And yes my question was about if a Bridge creation/change also do a change in WE, so the pictures in the folder changes, but when I did that, then there came a small folder in the picture-folder, but no change in the Microsoft Folder, so I hoped youc could do something with this small folder from Bridge, which came in after the change of a picture placemenet in Bridge.
I know I perhaps can buy ACDsee to move pictures around, but it should not be nescessary, I am happy with the folder-structure in ME (just write the year first and then the date and then the event) and I do not know if this program also change the settings in ME ?

Yes, exactly, I can not move a single (or more) picture(s) around in a folder in W 7, and get the picture to a better place. I can make a new folder in the same folder and do it, but that is stupid work to do for just e.g. one single movement of one single picture. Try to look at the link from the Window forum, there you can see the problem.
There are some possibilities to move around, a way of "hacking" it, but those "hacking" would change something else, that I like to have (long story)
Written short: I had hoped that Bridge also changed the folder and the picture arrangement in Windows Explorer ? Or if ACDSee does that ?? - I want it to be properly right in the WE-folder, so it is at the hard disc, so it is not only Bridge or ACDSee that it is as I want and need, but also in the WE (the hard disc)

9. Re: Use Bridge to move photos
station_two Jul 24, 2012 12:01 AM (in response to Kibbermand)Yes, that is indeed a different story.
On the Mac, you can certainly arrange the icons in the Finder manually, wherever you want them, if you UNcheck the "Keep Arranged by" option box in Vew Options; and you can rearrange them manually in Bridge too.
However, arranging the icons manually in Bridge is totally independent from the View Options in the Finder.
When I said that changes in the Finder are reflected instantly in Bridge and viceversa, I was referring to moving the image files from one folder to another and creating folders and subfolders at will. Those actions are reflected automatically. But the arrangement of the icons of the image files within a folder is not reflected. That remains a totally independent operation in the Finder and in Bridge.
Glad we clarified that now.
