Kate, we need to know what hardware you are using to get external playback
Also what created the DNxHD clips (camera, software, etc.), what computer are you using and any relevant details.
Thanks for your responce Lastvideo, here's the info you asked for.
Mac Lion 10.7.4, 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad Core Xeon, 24 gb DDR3
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Output with Blackmagic Decklink studio v9.6.1
Clips created by Adobe encoder with .mxf's from Canon C300.
DNxHD clips play as they should in premiere. Now only problem im having is getting output to an external monitor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thats Lasvideo as in Las Vegas
You say the DNxHD clips play in Premiere but you are not seeing it on your external monitor.
1. Can you get other kinds of clips to play in Premiere and also see them on the external monitor? Are the DNxHD clips the only ones that are problematic?
2. I assume the external motniro is getting fed HD-SDI from your BM studio card.. Have you installed the most current drivers for that hardware?
Thats a good start.
Sorry for the name mix up Lasvideo. Its Kale not Kate btw.
1. All other kinds of codecs (ProRes, h.264 ect.) play fine in premiere and output fine to external monitor. DNxHD are the only probematic ones.
2. Yes, the most current drivers for the BM Studio card are installed.
Sorry for the name mixup, Kale
I would call BMD tech support. For some codecs to work and DNxHD not to work is very strange.
Unless maybe there is something funky about the DNxHD file (it should be Quicktime wrapped not MXF). I personally would make the call to the experts.
No worries, names are easy to mix up it seems.
Looks like I have some calls to make.
Thanks for your help.
