    Want Index page to have image on.

    jeggs
      Hello, I'm new to dreamweaver & have just amended a website using Dreamweaver that was originally created with Golive.
      My problem is that the index.html is using frames, I think, - side.html, -main.html (which is blank), and on other pages also, -top.html.
      I would like the index.html, or opening page to contain an image and text, however when I insert something it comes up on the other pages that use that frame, for example when you click on the 'sport' navigation button. Any help would be much appreciated.
      Website is http://www.keithfearon.com
      Thanks

          Getting rid of the frames would not only teach you some HTML, but also save
          you alot of trouble in the long run.

          Can you post a link to the page on which you want to have this image?

            Do you mean a link such as :
            http://www.keithfearon.com/index.html
            Will that take you to the index page?
            Basically it is the opening page that I want the image and text on, actually the same information that is on the biography page (kfbio.html)
            I'm sorry I'm not sure what you need, or if I have given you the correct information.
            I have realised frames are tricky, but as it was originally created with them, for speed of getting the website up I just played around with the original.
            Thanks

              Here is your frameset markup -

              <frameset border="0" cols="120,*" frameborder="no" framespacing="0"
              onLoad="CSScriptInit();">
              <frame name="kfside" noresize scrolling="no" src="kfside1.html">
              <frameset border="0" frameborder="no" framespacing="0" rows="80,*">
              <frame name="kftop" noresize scrolling="no" src="kftop.html">
              <frame name="kfmain" noresize src="kfmain.html">
              </frameset>

              It looks like the page you want to edit is the kfmain.html page.

              Open that page in DW, add the image, and save it.

                Thank you for helping me , by the way.
                If I do what you say, (I will try it later), will the image also come up on the other pages that use the frameset?
                For example if you click on the sport button in the navigation panel, won't the image come up there, which is what I don't want, I would like that to remain blank, until they click on one of the images at the top.
                Same for when you click on 'figurative' or 'current' etc.???

                  The image will appear within any frameset page that uses that main.html
                  page.

                  I am very nervous about the disconnect between your apparent understanding
                  of frames and HTML and your task on this project.

                    Don't be, worried I am just trying to improve the website, and it's doing it's job at the moment! Anything else I should try? or would it be better to start again.
                    As I said I have only amended the site from somebody elses creation which is why I do not fully understand the workings. I will be developing a new site in time.
                    One other thing, I do not understand why the external links don't work. I appear to have put the correct links in using Dreamweaver.
                    Apologies for basic questions, but it is a learning curve.
                    Thanks for any further help.
                    Regards
                    Joan
