When a colleague sends me an InDesign file and I open it, it states that there are "missing resources" and the resulting documents does not have many of the images and design elements it should have. How does this colleague send me a file I can view and edit properly? How do they send me an InDesign file with all of the resources included?
These resources probably include images, which can be embedded , but that's a Bad Idea and generally advised against, and fonts, which cannot be embedded in a native InDesign file.
Ask your colleague to use File -> Package... to create a folder containing all required resources, and use your OS native compression facilities to compact it into a single file : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/indesign/cs/using/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-7060a.h tml#WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-7058a
