Apologies for the lack of details...I know better than that. Luckily I figured it out the problem.
The clip is Ikegami MXF. The problem was that the first audio channel had no audio recorded to it. I modified the clip audio properties and disabled channel 1. Voila! The clip was loaded into the source monitor and the audio became audible.
