Make sure the two cameras are recording in the exact same format.
If you right-click a video clip in the Project bin and check Properties, you should see the frame size and specs of the video.
It sounds like the SR12 is recording standard def, or maybe 720p, while the XR260 is recording full 1080 HD. Besides what Jim said about checking the recording format, you can right-click a clip on the timeline that is too small and check the "Scale to Frame" box and it will expand to fill the screen, though the quality may suffer from the blow-up.
If the clips are a mix of 1080 and 720, then you may want to edit as 720p, as the 1080 clips will look better downscaled than upscaling the 720 clips into 1080.
