Did you check the Xerox site for new drivers? Are you using the postscript or PCL driver.
I had a Pahser 790, and now use a 7800, and both would print fine from ID on Windows 7, so I expect the problem you are seeing is probably driver related. That said, I almost never print direct from ID anymore. It's usually faster, and generally more reliable, to export a PDF and print that instead (and I always use the PDF for proofing since that's what I send to press).
Exactly the same problem appears when I print a PDF, either exported from Indesign och from Word.
OK, that's really strange. I would check for a newer driver, reinstall the current driver if you can't find a newer one, and contact Xerox.
Yes, it is really strange. The Xerox printer is a postscript proffsprinter and it did work properly with my older computer with Windows Vista. The driver is installed several times, both level 2 and level 3 ( a newer version). Do you know how to export the driver from the older computer? If it´s easy to export I can try to import exactly the same driver in the new computer. The older computer was 32 bit, but the new one is 64 bit. Perhaps that´s the problem??
You cannot install a 32 bit driver on a 64 bit operating system.
Where did you get the driver? Is it from Xerox or the one that Windows installs?
FWIW, I’ve had success with the Microsoft supplied drivers so if the one you’re using is downloaded from Xerox, try Windows Update.
Drivers are installed both from Windows installs and from Xerox
where Web-based Postscript Driver Installer Windows 7 64 bit is chosen.
Both these drivers have the same problem.
Windows Update didn´t solve the problem.
It´s still a mystery.
Try the Global Print Driver (second link) on that same page...
Thank you so much! Global Print Driver was the ultimate solution!
