The other programs would not reopen if the computer rebooted. And PP shouldn't be shutting down on it's own. Something is amiss.
I agree with Jim. Something is shutting down PrPro, but not rebooting the computer, from your description.

Also, as a test, close everything except Premiere... just to be sure some other operation is not the cause
Hi everyone. thanks so much for the replies. Turns out it's a combination of a few things. I filmed my screen overnight. My windows update did run at 3am, and then shut down, but windows is failing to configure the updates, so it shuts down, fails to configure, restarts and reverts back, and then when windows opens back up the websites and such are turned back on but premiere isn't. Very strange, but definitely not a premiere problem.
Even when Windows updates download and install properly, there can be issues.
I have Windows set to Notify Me, and then I can decide when to download and install any updates. I do that when I have time to troubleshoot, in case something does not go perfectly. I also create a new System Restore Point, before the install of the updates (though some do that too), just to have a bit of a "safety net," in case of problems.
I do the same for ALL programs, as I do not want any updating, when I am doing anything else.
Good luck, and glad that you tracked down the culprit.

You recorded this? I've seen Windows reboot after installing an update, but I've never seen it reopen apps by itself.
