Schneider)Thanks for the explanation Larry, but I don't understand what the resulting name of a layer has to do with the Z-order of the objects in those layers? If I select the top most layer last, the resulting merged layer will have it's name; and if I select the bottom most layer last, the resulting layer will have that name. All the objects will still have the same stacking order regardless of which way I merge. I just want the naming convention to be the same as it is in other adobe programs, and within illustrator itself for all other merges.
