Noel Carboni Sep 1, 2012 11:29 AM (in response to sheana2002)The Internet. Oh wait, they're not all fancy.
In all seriousness, there really are a lot of web sites from which you can download fonts, and even some where you can buy professional quality fonts. Google is your friend on this one.
There's even a pretty cool site that will allow you to submit a small image of a font and it will attempt to match it and tell you what its name is:

Noel Carboni Sep 1, 2012 12:07 PM (in response to sheana2002)On a Windows system just drag them into C:\Windows\Fonts via a Windows Explorer window.
If you have a Mac, hopefully one of the Mac experts here will chime in.

Bill Hunt Sep 1, 2012 12:28 PM (in response to sheana2002)For Headline fonts, i.e. "fancy fonts," I like Chank: http://chank.com/
Chank Diesel's fonts have always been well-written, and I have never had any issues with them.
They are not free (though they do offer some for free), but are fairly priced, and rather innovative.
Good luck,

Bill Hunt Sep 1, 2012 12:31 PM (in response to sheana2002)how do I install the fonts in Adobe, or access them from Adobe?
When properly installed on your system, after a reboot *, the fonts will be available to Adobe programs, provided that they are well-written, and the Adobe program can use them.
Good luck,
Hunt
* Not always necessary, but I recommend doing so, just to be sure - unless one uses a font manager, such as Extensis Suitcase, that DOES allow fonts to be loaded/unloaded on the fly.

Noel Carboni Sep 1, 2012 12:33 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Just to close and reopen Photoshop is all that's required on a Windows 7 system.

10. Re: Where can I get fancy text fonts for Adobe Photoshop?
Bill Hunt Sep 1, 2012 12:39 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)Noel,
Thanks. I have never had an issue, but have used font managers from the days of Win 3 and NT 2.0. Back with XP, some users had issues, that were resolved by a reboot, so I mentioned that old saw, just in case.
Because of the vast number of fonts that I have, I cannot imagine working without the "net" of a good font manager.
Best that I ever found was FontMinder, which was ported for about Win 3, but worked on 3.1.1 and then NT, up to at least version 4. However, Adobe bought the company, but then killed all development, in favor of their existing ATM (Adobe Type Manager). Back then, Adobe was very heavily involved in fonts, but I never really warmed to ATM, in any flavor. It is now basically history too. Bye-bye FontMinder.

11. Re: Where can I get fancy text fonts for Adobe Photoshop?
Noel Carboni Sep 1, 2012 1:22 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Sometimes the old advice is still the best advice. It's never a bad idea to reboot after installing anything, though it's been a really long time since I've had any problems with new fonts showing up after going through a Windows installation.
Unlike you, my work has not demanded that I juggle a lot of fonts, so I have accumulated them very slowly and have never seen the need for a font manager. Browsing to C:\Windows\Fonts in Explorer I see I have 219 items listed, which is rather more than a default installation but certainly easily manageable without any 3rd party help.
Just as a guess, since people do tend to accumulate fonts - even by just web browsing nowadays - I imagine that Windows and its applications are capable of dealing easily with hundreds of fonts (I can say with authority everything's fine with 219), but perhaps the software may balk with thousands of fonts installed all at once. I've never explored those limits, which have no doubt have changed over the years as systems have gotten more powerful.

12. Re: Where can I get fancy text fonts for Adobe Photoshop?
Bill Hunt Sep 1, 2012 1:35 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)Going way back, I used to have to remove fonts, to get my OS to function properly. They really slowed the computer down. That was when I first went to a font manager, so that I could do that on the fly. OS's are MUCH better now.
Still, my machines have only about 350 installed fonts, at any one time. I have about the same number of fonts, as you do, and then just add the ones that I need for a job, letting them uninstall, when I shut down.
In general, the laptop is pretty clean, but I have about 12,000 fonts available on it. I've got about 19,000 on the workstation, but still, never have more than about 350, installed at any one time. I probably should pare down those fonts, as many have not been used, ever, and many were for particular clients, or projects, and will likely never get used again. Still, and especially with display/Headline fonts, I often go searching for just the right look, for main Titles, etc., in my Videos. Just do not do much print work nowadays.
At one time, I could backup my fonts on a CD. Now, it's two DL DVD's! Still, I paid for 95% of those suckas, and the rest were free from the Internet, so I do have an investment, and who knows what I will need to do tomorrow?
