Hi... I am trying to open an existing Director file created elsewhere on an earlier version (not sure if it was Windows or not) my Mac and I get a Director Player Error - This application requires an Xtra (Windows Media) that either does not exist or failed to initialize properly. Please make sure the appropriate Xtras are in the Xtras folder(s).
I am new to Director and any help would be greatly appreciated. I think I have all of the files used.
The alert message means the xtra cited (Windows Media) isn't available. And I don't think this xtra exists for Mac, so you will need to replace the video member with something else, like QuickTime (depending on the CODEC), and re-link the video files.
Thanks Sean. I will try that but at the same time I can encode and playback WMVs on my Mac (with Flip4Mac ) so I am surprised that there isn't an Xtra to do this. I thought that using a wmv would be more dependable then H264 / mp4 on a CD ROM for PCs. Should I be concerned about the codec.
Try inserting various video media members and linking them to your existing WMV files. If/when you find one that plays them acceptably then you might have found your solution.
