Java is a stand alone language that can be processed by a special set of system programs to create machine executable code without any other special support programs.

JavaScript is a dynamic prototype scripting language and requires an interpretor to read the plain text lines of the script and checks the syntax, converts the plain text into special code tokens, and then tries to process the tokens. Each time a script is called to run this process is repeated. JavaScript can be stopped during processing and variable values can be tested and modified and even the text lines of code can be modified while the script statements are being processed.

Java is like trading with real money and the loses are real, while JavaScirpt is like a modeling or role playing program of stock trading.
