Should look like this...
My original png file from illustrator is correct. there is no border around it, and there is no border in after effects. Only after exporting do I have a border around the logo. I have exported in quicktime animation with millions of colors and rgb + alpha. I need it to have the alpha channel. I exported a png sequence and sped it up in fcp X so that works to get the job done, but why does it add something not there and I can't get a single video file? Thanks for any help.
There are two kinds of alpha channels, Straight and Premultiplied. You made a Premultipled alpha channel, and you need Straight.
The selection will be found in AE's Output Module settings in the Render Queue where you found the settings to make the alpha channel.
What Dave said. PNGs by default are premultiplied. You need to not only use the correct render setting in AE, but also interpret the Alpha accordingly in FCP or any other program.
Great! That was exactly my problem. And I'm glad to know those details about the png's by nature being premultiplied. Thanks a lot for your help!
