When I export my 3D-project (a coffee mug) from Cinema 4D (R11) as a .3ds file to PS CS5 Extended I get the following message: "The Photoshop 3D file format could not parse this file".
The odd thing is that when I export and import a simple sphere it works. I believe that there is some kind of limitation involved? How do I know this threshold? Is there any documentation on this matter?
There is per se no limit, but there may be specifics like multiple UV sets, stray, unassociated lose points, incompatible data from whatever you use in C4D (spline based objects or so). Impossible to tell. Check your model. Convert it to a poly model, run the Optimize function on it, check the materials and tags.
To make it a single poly was the way to go!!
