1. Re: Annotations and drawing markup tools overview
vmartin2015 Sep 14, 2012 7:56 PM (in response to Community Help)I am trying to use Adobe Reader X 10.1.4 on my MAC OS X 10.7.4 to edit PDF documents, but I am not having much luck. While I am use to using the "Annotation and Drawing Markup Tools" at work via Adobe Acrobat on my Windows PC, I am unable to access any stencils besides "Sticky Note" and "Highlight Text" on my MAC via Adobe Reader X. I am aware that "In Reader, complete commenting tools are available only in PDFs that have commenting enabled," however, the documents that I am not able to edit on my MAC are the same ones that I am able to edit on my Windows PC. Are all of the commenting tools not available with the free Adobe Reader application? Please help!
Thank you!

Dave Merchant Sep 15, 2012 2:41 AM (in response to vmartin2015)Adobe Reader has the full set of markup tools but they are only active if the PDF file has been saved with extended rights (In Acrobat, use Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Commenting and Measuring). Without those rights, only the sticky note and highlight tool are available in Adobe Reader.
Adobe Acrobat can use the full range of markup tools on any unsecured PDF file.

cdctt Mar 10, 2014 12:59 PM (in response to Dave Merchant)I've got a user with Adobe Reader X, and I've sent them a form that has been enabled for Commenting and Measuring (Adobe X Pro) but they still do not have access to the option to add a file. They don't even have access to the highlight and sticky note options (they are there but greyed out). Am I missing something?
