1. Re: I've Got The HDV Capture BLUES From Premier Pro CS6
Peru Bob Sep 17, 2012 12:16 PM (in response to Scrantus9)I know it's not a solution, but a workaround.
A lot of us here use HDVSplt for capturing HDV footage instead of PPro:

Don't be wary of the "Beta" description. This piece of software has been around for a while.

Glitchdog Sep 17, 2012 7:55 PM (in response to Scrantus9)There are many other users that have not been able to capture HDV footage in Premiere. I tried in 5.5 about a year ago and was completely unsucessful. Found many other related posts while looking for a solution. Since we still had FCP7 on the system we used it instead.

Scrantus9 Sep 17, 2012 10:26 PM (in response to Peru Bob)Bob, I tried HDV Split, captured some m2t footage and then tried to import
into Adobe Premier Pro CS6. Here is the result:
Did I do something wrong?

5. Re: I've Got The HDV Capture BLUES From Premier Pro CS6
Steven L. Gotz Sep 18, 2012 7:12 AM (in response to Scrantus9)You scared me a bit. I upgraded from Premiere Pro CS3 to Premiere Pro CS6 and I haven't had a need to capture anything yet. So, while I do like using HDVSplit, I thought I would try capturing from my Sony HDR-FX1 just to see what happens.
I turned off the PC, got out the camera, connected the Firewire cable (I blew the firewire port on this camera once. I will NOT do it again.)
I started a new project. Now, the first thing I noticed was that the default is to capture DV. So I changed that to HDV. See the image below:
After that, it was a simple matter to capture the HDV. I dropped it on the "New Item" button to create a new sequence with the exact right properties. Then I trimmed it a little on each end. It was so cool that there was no line above the clip, meaning that no rendering was required. It never used to be so easy. I then used the Vimeo 1080 60p preset and uploaded it to Vimeo. No video or audio effects. This is how it was recorded.
So, since it worked for me, let's see if we can get enough details from the people having trouble and see if it is user error or a bug I didn't see.
Oh, just in case there are any Disney World fans, or anyone who just loves Christmas lights, here is what I captured.

Don't see any screendump, but assuming you cannot import.
This means there is nothing wrong with the firewire/capturing.
Does Premiere have all the sequence presets?

Powered by Design Sep 18, 2012 6:00 PM (in response to Scrantus9)I just hooked up my Sony Z1U and was able to capture hdv just fine.
I see the renaming bug is still there if you dont name it first but it worked fine here.
I did notice that at first I could not even see my camera untill I changed the capture to HDV like Steven Gots said, but once I did that I was fine.
Dont have any idea on why you got a mp3 after capture. Try again making sure to rename it before capture with .mpg
Hope you figure it out.

Glitchdog Sep 18, 2012 8:45 PM (in response to Powered by Design)Yay, I'm glad you guys figured it out. Good ref for the next time we need to capture some HDV archive footage. We'll keep our Sony HDV deck capturing, but we're selling our Z1U as we've replaced it.

dazetec3 Sep 16, 2013 5:08 AM (in response to Scrantus9)If your Premiere is making mp3 files when you are capturing HDV, change their extension to ".m2ts" and they will work
