Color on exported video on Adobe Premiere Pro Is a bit off from the original source video

    bknjs Level 1

      adobepremierecolorchanges.jpg

I have both Cyberlink powerdirector 10.0 and Adobe Premiere Pro C6

I noticed that adobe premere cs6. when exporting the video.. colors are a little off.. never matching the same tones as the original

      source

i took a screenshot  so you can see what i mean.. Notice Adobe is a a little mor orange. is there a way to fix this? Cyberlink powedirector always matches the source color when you export it. except Adobe Premiere Pro CS 6

i have windows 7 64 bit (Nvidia GeForce GTX 670M

You can't rely on software players or computer monitors to show you an accurate signal.  You need a properly calibrated TV for that.

Like Jim already mentioned you cannot rely on media players for color accuracy. You will need a properly calibrated TV.  Even if you calibrate your PC monitor you would still have the issue, because all software players change the color to some extent. The other thing is even the same media player can display the same "movie or program or video" totally differently depending on the codec used and even the color profile used when the media was encoded.

However just because I'm curious if you pull the exported content into Premiere does it appear different than the source? However even in this scenario there could still be other factors at play. I'm just curious.

My other question is what format was your source content in?  (Please post all codec and resolution info etc.) You can use media info to do this here is the link http://download.cnet.com/MediaInfo/3000-2169_4-10413046.html

What format did you export to? (Please include all codec info etc with this information as well.) Please just post the media info results.

Thanks for answering. I ddi notice different media players show colors different. But on the screenshot i just showed you.. all 3 are from the same media player.

For some reason everytime i export a video from Adobe premiere pro the color is never the same as the source on media player. I tried it on 4 different videos. Other software programs like cyberlink power director export the video with no color change.

1)The original source from the picture is a mpeg-4 (avc)

2)i always use wmv codec to encode all videos. So the shot from Premiere Pro was using WMV codec. and the other shot (cyberlink powerdirector) was also wmv to encde.

              3) I even tried to see if maybe i used a  different video format to encode it would fix the slight color change. like h264 and mov.. but nope still same issue

              4) I did what you told me to show the source and exported video on Adobe Premiere and really weird. the exporterd video from Adobe Premiere now shows the exact color as the source.. but the exported video from Cyberlinkpowerdirector shows the color a bit different.

The reason it looks correct inside Premire is because Premiere is reading it/displaying it correctly.  Here is what I'm assuming is going on your media player isn't reading the information correctly because it's not decoding each video in the same way, because of the different codecs at play here. I have seen this occur many times. The good news is that your file is indeed okay and also correct color, you just need to know you can't trust what that Cyberlink is showing. Often media players do stuff like this sadly.

Try viewing the file inside VLC, KMplayer or WMP and see if it matches then, you will probably end up seeing that these media players don't display color the same way as Cyberlink this is because every media player plays back media a little differently. This is the main reason you can't trust software players is because they don't decode/display video in a correct manor.

Even if the other media players don't match each other you'll at least see that they don't match Cyberlink color for either file most likely.

Ok then what about this. I uploaded to youtube to see the results. and noticed Adobe Premiere's version is the one that the color changes a bit

I don't know how to explain it any better, but you can't trust youtube or any media player. I constantly upload things to youtube and end up seeing my content's color get changed. I know this isn't what you want to hear but I assure you that all media players will generally show totally different color with different codecs and or the same file. I don't know if you noticed or not but the original video differs from the  WMV made in cyberlink as well.  It lowered the highlights on her leg. It also made her legs appear more "red".  I recommend you download VLC and KMplayer you'll see what I'm talking about, you can also check windows media player it will show different color as well.

But just wanted to point out that the cyberlink video in that you-tube picture is different than your original too. All the highlights are darker (they don't cover as much area) The other issue with your you-tube test is that you-tube encodes ANYTHING you send them once you upload it to their server. They compress everything they are sent once the file is sent to them. So that test unfortunately doesn't really explain anything.

Try pulling all three videos into Premiere and compare them all it's the only way to compare them all in a fair manor since Premiere pro is going to be more accurate than any software player I know about, however you have to keep in mind that honestly you need a pro monitor if you want to 100 percent sure. Software players just aren't reliable at all. If you want to upload a test file I'd be happy to compare them all on my works pro sony monitor.
