CFHTTP ClientCert from RAM drive (no documentation)

CFHTTP is listed as supporting files in the in-memory file system, but attempting to use one in the clientcert attribute results in

Error while trying to get the SSL client certificate: java.io.FileNotFoundException: ram:/myfile.p12 (The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect)

(Note that I am using the ram:/// syntax, not ram:/ as the error indicates. I have also tried ram:// and a mapping to no avail.) There is no documentation specifically addressing this usage scenario; is it supposed to be supported or not? If so, what am I doing wrong?

This is fully patched CF9.0.1 (Ent).
