Uninstalling/ re-installing doesn't clear your preferences which may be causing an issue.
Also, check for any corrupt/ invalid fonts. These have to be removed. Photoshop scans all installed fonts while launching. A corrup fontt file may goof up this process.
Which OS version are you using?
Do you have any more details from the crash report?
It took me a while to find the right combination to find those files, but it did solve the problem.

You mean you found and deleted the corrupt fonts and that solved the problem?
Was the Cache/Preferences, corrupted, I think, by ACDSee.
