The very limited Sceneline has been replaced by the much improved Quick timeline interface.
Sorry to hear you don't like it. I think it's a major improvement.
I strongly suggest before buying that you install the trial.
That is always a very good suggestion.
Now, other than just the initial, general organization, I never felt that Sceneline was a viable editing mode, however, many did love it. As many of the powerful features of PrE were only accessible via the Timeline View Mode, I hardly ever even explored the Sceneline View Mode, but then I was coming from PrPro, which really only has that layout.
Others might have totally different workflows, and it will be interesting to see if the Quick Mode works for those Sceneline View adherents.
I am sorry to hear that the new layout is not to your liking.
I don't see how it's an improvement.
The sceneline is invaluable for assembling a project and doing the initial trimming of clips along with applying transitions. With PE11 you lose the thumbnails on the timeline, the shuttle on the monitor window and the ability to see /access project assets In the Quick mode. In Quick mode, clips go directly from the file system to the timeline without any project media display to show you clips used. You have to switch to expert mode to see your project assets. If you want to move a short clip in front of a long one you have to drag it a long way where in PE10 you simply drag the thumbnail of the short clip in front of the thumbnail of the long clip. Far easier and much less error prone.
I also use Premiere Pro CS5 and see it easier to work with than PE11
I agree 100 percent
I downloaded the trial but I will stay with version 10 beca use the sceneline is esential form me
Even the organizer doesn te offer a solution
Yeah, it baffles me why they took it out. I don't see any advantage with the approach they took and likewise don't see any disadvantage to leaving the sceneline in.
Of course, the only reason to upgrade any software is because you want the new features.
So it's no crime to continue to use the version that provides the Sceneline feature. Version 10 was a very good build.
