New page from CS5 template entirely editable

    riverwebs Level 1

Very confusing - working in DW CS5 - I've created a new page from a template by chose New>Page from Template (select site and template) and named the file in the Save As dialog. All page code is editable, not jnust the section marked as an editable region on the dwt template. I tried this several times checking to make sure I selected the proper dwt file and save as file type and same result.  By applying the template to the htm file it creates the correct editable/non-editable regions but that is not the way it shiould work.  Even more confusing, when I open  new pages from  these templates in Contribute CS3, only the correct regions are editable. Some ideas please on how to troubleshoot this,

Is the Template from which you're spawning the child pages located inside the Templates folder in your site folder?  Or did you inadvertently pick a template from another site?

Insite the templage folder of the correct site. BTW the correct path to the doc with the dwt code is nspaintshop.com/staging/dwt.pdf

I don't see anything wrong with your Template code.

Can we see code from a non-working Child Page?

BTW: You can copy & paste code into the web forum (don't use email for this).

I didn't see the Syntax Highlighting control but here is the code. As you can see there is no InstanceBeginTemplate in the file.

If Dreamweaver is acting erratically,  it's often a sign of a corrupt cache file. The first thing to try is deleting the file cache. If that doesn't work, delete your personal Configuration folder. Full instructions below:

Hmm - I deleted the personal config folder but still have the issue.  Can you point me to the file cache are you referring to?

On my system with CS6 installed, it's here:

                      C:\Users\Nancy\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\en_US\Configuration\

Be sure to close DW before you delete the WinFileCache***.dat file.  When you re-open it, DW will create a new one.

That was the one I deleted.  Is there anything else I should do? What do you think about reinstalling DW as the next step?

Is this happening only in this 1 template or all your templates?

Can you try recreating a new template to see if that works fine?

Another user had a similar issue and a new template creation solved his issue. http://forums.adobe.com/message/4711946
